Critical Issues Facing Solano County

Living in this district, has not only opened my eyes to the many needs, but has allowed me to hear the communities’ cries for Real Solutions, Real Leadership, and problem-solving that works. I will focus on:

1.   Reducing Homelessness 

     The number of people living on the streets has grown dramatically. Over 50% of the unhoused have mental health and addiction issues.   

     We need a more robust mental health delivery system, drug treatment, and a coordinated effort between agencies to help those in need  

     – while making communities safer. 

2.  Safe Neighborhoods and Communities

    A) Tackling the Root Causes of Crime

         Addressing the root cause of crime will create safer neighborhoods and communities. Investing in impoverished neighborhoods,   

   connecting residents to job training and employment opportunities, and connecting youth to positive high-quality education and after- 

   school opportunities is the first step. 

   B) Disaster/Wildfire Preparedness

       I will continue the work I’ve been doing for over four years to reduce wildfire risk and help residents and communities become better  

   prepared for wildfire and other natural disasters. 

3.  Economic Vitality

    A) Creating Local Jobs and Opportunities

         We need to focus on job training for 21st-century jobs, reconnecting trade education with schools, incentivizing local hiring, and   recruiting livable wage jobs to Solano County.

    B) Supporting Small Businesses

         Small businesses are important drivers of employment and economic growth — creating two-thirds of new jobs across the  

    State. We must address barriers to success and foster a thriving economy.

     C) Affordable Housing

         We need housing that people that can afford. As a County Supervisor I will work collaboratively with the cities to increase 

    housing that the average citizen can afford. 

4.  Protecting the Environment

         The impact on our environment should be part of every decision we make-from housing to transportation to energy and    

    infrastructure. I’ll work to protect our rich agricultural lands and open space, while working collaboratively to address our 

    housing and economic development needs.
